International Students at Taroona High School
Taroona High School welcomes international students from China, Japan, Thailand, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and Malaysia through Government Education and Training International (GETI). Other international students who are in Tasmania with their families are from Italy, Korea, Iran, and Vietnam. We welcome our international students who add to our cultural diversity at Taroona High School.
The focus for all these students is to integrate into Tasmanian school life through involvement in all that this school offers, be it studying subjects from the Australian Curriculum, a variety of optional subjects, sports and extra curricula activities.
International students in Years 9 and 10 participate in regular English Language Learners’ classes, where they aim to develop fluency and understanding of English. Excursions in and around the Hobart area add to their cultural understanding of life in Tasmania.
